I've been thinking a lot about excuses this week. I used to have so many!
My biggest "excuse obstacles" I needed to overcome were the ones about exercising.
As a stay at home mom of 2 small children, I'm doing good to find the time to go pee...much less invest time in working out.
I tried the whole, "I'll just exercise with my kids. We'll make a game of it!". Yeah, that worked for about 5 minutes...until they were ready to play a different game.
Now I'm not saying that having a dance party, playing the Wii, or getting outside with your kids isn't a GREAT way to get some exercise. It's a FABULOUS way to exercise and teach them healthy habits, but it's difficult to focus on yourself and your goals while in "Mommy mode".

If you've been following this blog long, you've heard me mention "exercise with intent". Well, here's what I mean by that...Exercising with intent means dedicating your time and focus to exercising with the intent of reaching your goals. Simple, right? Not so much...
The key to exercising with intent is to set easy and obtainable limits. If 15 minutes per day is all you have, then GREAT commit to focus on exercising for 15 minutes 6-7 days per week. If you can spare an hour, commit to dedicating that hour to your goal 3-4 days per week.
As you develop towards your goals, you'll be motivated to steal away every spare moment to reaching them (this is true in ALL areas of life, not just exercise!).
I started by setting a goal to exercise with intent 15-20 minutes per day. Initially, it was 5 minutes here, 10 minutes there, etc. However, by the end of the 1st week I could already see drastic changes in my body and energy level so I reset my goal to 20-30 minutes per day. Now, 5 weeks into my journey, I'm dedicated to exercising with intent 30 minutes 6-7 days per week because I WANT to.

Did I dread scheduling in my daily exercise in the beginning? YES! But I promise that by the end of that first hellacious week, you'll look forward to the "me time" and live for trying new exercises.
One of the ways I build my daily routines is by following routines on YouTube...it's free and the variety is limitless. You can check out a few of my favorites at https://www.youtube.com/AdaptiveMom/playlists.

As I enter my 6th week of this transformation journey, I look forward to my daily exercise and love seeing the transformations already taking place in my body, health, and spirit.
Where I once dreaded exercise, I now beg, barter, or steal someone to watch my kids for just 30 minutes so I can cycle around the lake!
I would never have made it this far in this challenge without my protein packed Essante pH 7.365 daily pick-me-up shakes and my Essante Super Reds and Earth Greens that boost my energy to push through every workout and beyond...the motivation of winning the $2,500 payout helps a little too. ;-)
