This week, I had to make a choice.
I could focus on the numbers on that damn device on my bathroom floor that seems to taunt me, I could focus on that little red measuring tape with tiny white numbers that seems to be a bit more friendly, or I could focus on the number of hours I put into working toward my goal.
I chose to focus on the numbers that encouraged me to push myself harder. What did I choose, you ask? Well...ALL OF THEM!
I praised my efforts of sticking with my calorie count and healthy eating for 14 straight days and counting. I rewarded myself for adding exercise and strength training to my daily routine for 14 straight days and counting. I danced a little dance for the 8 total inches lost along the way. I challenged myself to stick with my program and work that much harder so that that beast on my bathroom floor might show more appreciation for my efforts next week.
"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant." -Robert Louis Stevenson
Am I a little frustrated with the numbers on the scale? Of course I am, but I have other numbers that tell a different version of my journey.
"Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is usually more important than the outcome." -Arthur Ashe
In weight loss, as in any task in which you challenge yourself, there is always a numbers game being played. Rate your success according to the numbers that motivate YOU most! Don't give up because the numbers seemed to play against you one week. Rather, use that knowledge to learn how to improve the rest of your journey!
"Nobody makes a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." -Edmond Burke
